Film Analysis:

Emerging after his inaugural year as a full-time starter at Georgia, Zion Logue represents yet another product of the highly effective NFL pipeline established by the Georgia defense. Standing at a firm 6-foot-6, his production may not glow on the stat sheet but he has been a reliable contributor for the past several years.

As a prospect, Logue’s best traits come in his upper body. He possesses extremely firm hands that he uses to stalemate opposing offensive linemen at the line of scrimmage. When trying to hold the point, he uses his impressive grip strength to leverage defenders away from his body. Where I’d like to see Logue improve, especially as a two-gapper, is shedding those big on big blocks more efficiently. He oftentimes loses his leverage when he looks to bite on ball-carriers, making him vulnerable to being finished by linemen.

In the pass game, Logue brings some value as a down-the-middle bull rusher but lacks some of the résumé-building pass-rush moves you want from a defensive tackle. However, he was often asked to set picks, loop, or contain rush in the Georgia defense, so the suppressed sample size of true two-way rushers may not tell the whole story of Logue’s pass-rushing abilities.

Overall, Logue projects as a developmental piece to add to the depth of a defensive line room as he continues to refine his skills under NFL coaching. I’m excited to witness Logue’s growth within an NFL defense, where he’ll have the opportunity to focus on a singular aspect of his game, benefiting from more freedom rather than wearing multiple hats as he did in the Georgia defense.

Prospect Projection: Day 3 — Role Specific Contributor

Exposures: Missouri (2023), Alabama (2023), Tennesse (2023)
