Oscar Delp NFL Draft Scouting Report

Oscar Delp Scouting Report

Oscar Delp is an athletic, alignment-versatile TE prospect who has the physical traits to be utilized as an important piece of an NFL passing attack.

Draft Grade: Round 2 - Winning Starter

Strengths:

Route Running:Delp has shown the ability to run the entire route tree as a tight end. Delp is a fluid mover with fluid hips that allow him to get in and out of breaks that would traditionally be difficult for tight ends.

Alignment-Versatile:Delp's athletic ability allows him to align in different spots all over the field. Delp can play the X, Z, slot, or traditional in-line tight end position.

RAC:Delp has good acceleration in the open field, and when thrown the ball in stride, he has the speed to pick up extra yardage on the play.

Concerns:

Run Blocking: Delp has a long, lean frame that leans itself toward being more of a route-running tight end than a tight end that will thrive moving people off the ball in the run game. He gives good effort, but just needs to get stronger.

Contact Balance: Delp has excellent straight-line speed to separate, but he is often tripped up by the first defender's arm tackle, which prevents the play from being even bigger.
