Film Analysis:
Mohamed Kamara had a productive career at Colorado State, finishing with 32 sacks over five seasons—2023 was his best year accounting for 14 sacks.
Kamara has a quick first step off the ball. He will stress the outside arc consistently putting pressure on OTs to gain depth in their sets. Kamara uses stutter and jab steps mid-rush to unsettle the OTs feet leading to improper weight transfer and balance issues. I appreciate the pass-rush moves in his arsenal. He deploys double-hand swipes, dip/rip, club/swim, and the bull rush to name a few. He rushes with maximum effort with counters if his initial move is stonewalled. Kamara chases quarterbacks down in the backfield.
Kamara flashes edge-setting ability in the run game. He uses his low center of gravity as an advantage. He shoots powerful punches with violent intent. He is a collision player who does not mind making and playing through contact.
Kamara is a bit over-aggressive at the point of attack in the run game. He will lean too far forward to disrupt his balance and block-shedding effectiveness. In addition, his over-aggressiveness leads to missed tackles due to being out of control as he attempts to engage with the ball-carrier. He can improve his stack technique to stand clear and maintain outside leverage.
As a pass rusher, Kamara does not have the most fluid hips to transition from clearing the OTs shoulders to flattening his path to the QB. He becomes over-reliant on using his bull rush and attacking with power. He has a good package of pass-rush moves to use that need to be activated more.
Overall, Kamara projects as a rotational and developmental pass-rushing odd-front outside linebacker. His combination of athleticism and hand usage gives hope that he can become a starter at the next level.
