Strengths:
Position/Alignment Versatility:Due to the combination of Overton's size and athleticism, he can play multiple positions along the defensive front successfully and can be utilized to exploit advantageous matchups.
Athleticism:Overton is a high-end athlete for his size. He displays good lateral agility and quickness overall.
Power:Overton’s power is felt both as a run defender and as a pass rusher, where he can physically overwhelm offensive linemen during plays.
Concerns:
Elite First Step: While Overton can be versatile, the question is whether he is explosive enough around the edge to be a consistent threat as an edge rusher to sack the quarterback.
Tweener: Overton's primary position is edge rusher in the Alabama defense, but his size and frame lend themselves toward being an IDL. However, he has to be willing to consistently take on the duties that come with being an IDL, such as double teams and sustaining the line of scrimmage.
