Film Analysis:

Effort and competitiveness would drastically undersell the type of energy Logan Lee provides along the defensive line. He’s consistently working to attack gaps, shed blockers, and pursue ball-carriers from the backside inside what was an aggressive Iowa front seven.

However, he is a little light to project as an interior presence at the NFL level and the twitch is not present to play the 4i or 5 consistently—ultimately limiting his performance ceiling. A diversified rush plan is not present but he can find success by working quickly into the chest of linemen. Explodes off the snap but arrives at contact with average power.

Against the run, Lee does a nice job of keeping his eyes up to locate ball-carriers but will either win the rep quickly or is displaced yards from his gap. Finding a perfect medium will be key to the former Hawkeye working into snaps on Sundays.

As a pass rusher, Lee will not deploy a bull rush nor attempt to win technically with his hands but has the get-off and the ability to half-man opposing linemen to win reps. Feet can stop upon initial contact, leading to easy wins for opposing blockers.

Teams that prioritize upfield, penetrating defensive tackles will sell themselves on Lee. However, identifying his true role at the next level will paint the picture of his success in the NFL. His frame is currently too light to play inside, and while his length and power are enough to live as a run defender at 5-technique, his athleticism and twitch do not meet the standards at the position. He projects as an alignment-versatile defender with the ability to compete for snaps in multiple phases (defense/special teams).

All in all, his effort will pave the way for a defensive coordinator to give him looks up front.

Prospect Projection: Day 3 — Role Specific Contributor

Exposures: Northwestern (2023), Iowa State (2023)
