Lee Hunter NFL Draft Scouting Report

Lee Hunter Scouting Report

Lee Hunter is a massive interior defensive lineman who showcases the potential to be a plus-level run-stopping nose tackle.

Draft Grade: Round 3 - Adequate Starter

Strengths:

Size/Mass: Hunter possesses ideal size and mass for an interior, run-stopping defensive tackle in the NFL.

Power at LOS:Hunter’s natural strength, combined with his size, allows him to anchor the defense. He is difficult to move off the line of scrimmage and can effectively disrupt run schemes.

Run Defense:Despite his massive frame, Hunter shows multiple ways to win as a run defender. He can lock, peek, and shed defenders to make tackles at the line of scrimmage, or use his surprising first-step quickness to shoot gaps and be disruptive in the backfield.

Concerns:

Lateral Movements:Hunter appears to have limited lateral agility and range. On zone-type plays, he can be tight in his movements and is better suited to moving vertically upfield rather than laterally. When asked to redirect, he often takes an extra step to gather himself, which can limit his reaction time to the flow of the football.

Pass-Rush Production: Over his four-year career, Hunter has shown minimal sack production. This projects him more as a dominant run-down defender on early downs, while potentially being substituted for a lineman with greater pass-rush upside on obvious passing downs.
