When the Pittsburgh Steelers traded Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason, many questioned whether the organization had given up too quickly on their 2022 first-round pick.
Six months later, the move looks increasingly shrewd. The Steelers received a third-round pick that they used to address a key need on the offensive line, while Russell Wilson has provided steady veteran leadership.
Pickett has struggled in his limited opportunities in Philadelphia, throwing four interceptions in just 67 pass attempts. Meanwhile, Wilson has led Pittsburgh to a playoff berth.
"We made the decision we felt was best for the organization," GM Omar Khan said recently. "We're pleased with where we are as a team."
The trade represents a larger philosophical shift in Pittsburgh - a willingness to be aggressive and make difficult decisions in pursuit of a championship.
