Film Analysis:

As a result of his OL, Frank Gore Jr. had to rely on himself to create and find running lanes. He displays good patience paired with his lateral agility to exchange gaps if a lane is occupied. He does a nice job setting up and reading his blocks to find space to work. Gore Jr. has good contact balance to power through would-be arm tackles and gain yards after contact. In tight quarters, he can make defenders miss. He reads leverage and cuts against it with great effectiveness.

Gore Jr. offers a solid receiving skill set. He was mostly utilized as an underneath and screen target. He showcased reliable hands and play-making ability after the catch. He was charted for three drops in his career with 94 targets and 75 receptions. He has a developing route-runner out of the backfield.

Gore Jr. lacks an explosive burst after hitting a crease. He can be caught from behind and squeezed to the sideline quickly by pursuing defenders. If he doesn’t have a head start, he doesn’t provide much explosive plays to the offense. Do not expect him to outrun many pursuit angles down the field.

He is a reliable receiving option in the passing game. Due to his height and arm length, he has a limited and smaller catch radius. For Gore Jr. to have third-down value at the next level, improving his scanning in pass protection will be key. He doesn’t consistently scan the line of scrimmage to locate threats or find work. RBs will not see the field on money downs if coaches do not trust them to protect the QB.

Overall, Gore Jr. projects as an RB3 with change-of-pace potential behind an established starter. He has upside as a pass-catching option out of the backfield.
