Film Analysis:

Donovan Ezeiruaku took a massive leap in his progression in 2024, surging up draft boards due to his rapid improvement in both facets at EDGE While Ezeiruaku displayed traits that intrigued prior to the season, his ability to put it all together this fall showcased a player worthy of high draft capital, and a defender that should earn snaps early in his NFL career.

A four-year contributor for Boston College, Ezeiruaku is an alignment-versatile prospect with the bend and pursuit to compete for a substantial role within an NFL defensive front. He has experience aligning with his hand in the dirt and standing up and will present teams with a versatile profile at the edge rusher position.

As a pass rusher, Ezeiruaku showcases excellent bend and ankle flexion to threaten the outside shoulder. Will flash a bull rush and an inside two-hand swipe. Best when aligned as a wide-nine rusher with a direct route to the pocket. By working at such a tight angle, Ezeiruaku’s ability to force lineman to turn their shoulders square to his frame allows him to showcase an inside move that has proved successful on multiple occasions. He entered the year as more of a hybrid rusher who looks to win as an athlete but will enter the process as a technically refined sack artist who mixes tempos and levels to opposing tackles.

Against the run, Ezeiruaku shows a willingness to stick his face in the mud, but his play strength does have room for improvement. Very disciplined when left alone as the key on zone reads. Patient and quick to flow to the play side, delaying the offense's decision as long as possible. Good tackler. He also has experience working in the fringe areas in coverage.

Concerns remain about Ezeiruaku’s ability as an early-down defender, where he must continue to get stronger to hold at the point of attack. He’s more of an angular slasher in the ground game and can be washed out of the play if opponents can square him up. He does well to quickly separate from TEs if left alone in that capacity. Would also like to see more attempts at winning with a long arm or bull rush on certain occasions. Speed and bend are highly evident, but continuing to evolve will force tackles to pick their poison.

Overall, Ezeiruaku’s bend, explosiveness, and hands set the stage for one of the class' biggest risers at the position who has a shot to make an early impact in varying schemes.
