Caullin Lacy is a shifty alignment-versatile offensive weapon who will also make an impact as a special teams returner.
Draft Grade: Round 4 - Developmental Traits
Strengths:
Elusiveness/Lateral Agility: Lacy showcases good open-field elusiveness with the ability to make defenders miss in space. He has strong start-stop ability and lateral quickness, allowing him to string together multiple moves to evade tacklers. These traits make him a dangerous run-after-catch weapon who can consistently create extra yardage.
Versatility: Lacy’s athletic profile, including his acceleration, elusiveness, and contact balance, makes him a versatile offensive weapon. He can be deployed in motion to get the ball quickly on jet sweeps, screens, or manufactured touches designed to put him in space.
Special Teams/Return Ability:Lacy has been a proven special teams contributor throughout his career and an impact returner. With two punt return touchdowns in the 2025 season, he shows natural instincts, vision, and the athletic traits necessary to be a dangerous return man at the next level.
Concerns:
Size: Lacy appears to be an undersized receiver, which could limit his usage at the next level. His size impacts his overall catch radius and makes it more difficult for him to consistently win or finish catches when defenders are in phase, particularly in contested situations.
Role-Specific:Due to his size, Lacy may project as a more role-specific receiver in the NFL, primarily aligned in the slot. He could struggle to consistently win against physical press-man coverage on the outside and may have difficulty fighting through contact against bigger, stronger defensive backs.
