Film Analysis:

Brevyn Spann-Ford has alignment versatility with snaps earned both in-line and flexed out. He has a massive frame with comfortability in a three-point (hand in the dirt) or two-point stance.

As a run blocker, Spann-Ford does a nice job of attacking the chest plate of defenders. Fundamental strength needs work to out-leverage and displace opponents, but is technically fine at this point in his evaluation. Sealer, not a mover in the fringe areas of the line of scrimmage. Size teases some potential dominant reps against outside linebackers and secondary defenders, but it’s not yet a part of his game. Primarily utilizes good technique in both the ground game and as a further extension of the line on passing downs, but can be shed quickly and knocked off balance at a consistent rate in one-on-one opportunities.

In space, Spann-Ford’s role as a pass-catcher remains limited at this point in his evaluation. Immediate threat inside the red zone due to his size but hands and separation ability remain areas for improvement. Long strides cover ground but he has work-up speed, not a high level of twitch. Against zone, Spann-Ford does a nice job of finding soft spots and is quick to box out defenders and put linebackers on his hip. Extends hands to create vast throwing windows. Against man, Spann-Ford can run into trouble against longer, more nuanced defenders. Feet will stop if met with force inside the contact window, delaying his stem and taking him out of the play.

Overall, Spann-Ford is a primary Y tight end. Expecting anything more than spot touches as a TE2 or TE3 would be rich in his evaluation.

Prospect Projection: Day 3 — Role Specific

Exposures: North Carolina (2023), Purdue (2023), Illinois (2023)
