Film Analysis:
Ben Sinnott is a fourth-year player for the Wildcats who returned to the team after receiving First Team All-Big 12 Honors. Sinnott served in the utility role for the Wildcats, asked to consistently line up in different alignments and execute various responsibilities blocking and receiving.
As a run blocker, Sinnott displays good technique, which makes him an effective and efficient blocker. At the traditional in-line TE alignment, Sinnott can explode out of his hips at the snap and into the defender, creating effective collisions that stall bigger defenders. Working against defenders comparable to his size, he can not only sustain blocks but generate movement along the line of scrimmage. Sinnott can also serve as a lead blocker on run plays.
The concern of Sinnott's game is his effectiveness in the passing game. It appears that Sinnott lacks elements of explosiveness that would allow him to create consistent separation. In the passing game, Sinott profiles to be more of a short-to-intermediate threat where he has shown to be able to make contested catches/catches in high-traffic areas. Because Sinnott lacks the athleticism to create separation at times, he appears to be more effective against zone defenses, where he can work to find vacant spots rather than needing to create separation from defenders in man coverage.
Overall, Sinnott's value is in his versatility as a player and his effectiveness as a run blocker. Sinnott working on his ability to run routes and creating separation from defenders would add another element to his game to make him a tight end who can be utilized in all situations.
